When is the Best Time to Visit Chitwan?

The best time to visit Chitwan is from October to early March. Temperatures hover around a comfortable 25°C, providing an ideal climate for exploration. For those who don’t mind the heat, April and May mark the end of the dry season, a time when wildlife congregates at waterholes, although be prepared for intense heat with temperatures reaching the mid 40°Cs. January is the coldest month, with nighttime temperatures nearing freezing.

Additionally, visiting Chitwan during the monsoon season (June to September) offers a unique experience, with the landscape transforming into lush greenery and rivers swelling. However, this season also presents challenges such as leeches, especially during jungle walks, and potential flooding in parts of the park. Visitors should come prepared for frequent rains and the unique conditions of the monsoon, which contribute to the park’s vibrant ecosystem yet require careful planning and precaution.
